Thinking in English with
the Wednesday Academy
The Wednesday Academy has been designed for students who already have some familiarity with the English language, or who have previously taken courses such as the Knock-Knock Workshops.
The aim of the program is to place children at the heart of the language, through contexts and situations adapted to their pace and level, helping them develop the habit of thinking and expressing themselves in English naturally and spontaneously:
Through regular practice, students expand vocabulary, expressions, grammar and verb conjugation
Classes encourage students to think in English like native speakers do
By the end of the year, students gain confidence and speak English with less hesitation and more ease
A typical day at the Wednesday Academy consists of 3 hours of immersion in English, including:
1 h 30 of Language and Literature
Reading and writing activities build fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary.
Guided reading builds cross-genre understanding
Writing sessions combine grammar practice with creative projects
Our pedagogical coordinator carefully builds each class to support and inspire each intermediate-level learners
Every session encourages confidence, creativity, and progress, making English both engaging and rewarding.
1 h 30 of Fun Science
Fun Science activities spark curiosity and develop scientific thinking for our English learners.
Hands-on experiments explore scientific concepts in physics, chemistry, and biology in context
Interactive group challenges encourage collaboration, problem-solving, and communication
Students strengthen their English by using it in concrete contexts, immersed in English, and by describing, explaining, and discussing ideas while naturally learning to think in English.
Our pedagogical program
A few words from our teacher
"The science workshop is fun! We have the freedom to investigate the natural world in a low pressure but very rich learning environment. Dynamic situations incite the desire to talk!
Activities involve active manipulation of materials, sharing observations and predictions, listening and responding to the ideas of others, all in English.
Writing prompts are varied and planned to support students as they use new vocabulary and a variety of grammatical structures.
Intermediate English learners build upon the basics, and everyone is able to develop their English language skills.”
